A PRACTICAL GUIDE ON

HIS/HER CHILD’S OTHER HIDDEN INTELLIGENCES
Most Suitable For Parents of 10 Years Olds And Below
Other Parents Can Also Benefit Immensely From the Book
Dear Caring Parent,
You are about to make a discovery that will make success easy to attain for your child. I Implore you to take the pain to read this to the end.
DO YOU KNOW THAT ACADEMIC SUCCESS (SCORING “As”) HAS NEVER PREDICTED SUCCESS IN LIFE?
Examples abound around us of people who were grade ‘A’ students back in school but who are now leading mediocre lives. While their counterparts who were not as ‘intelligent’ ended up living richer, happier and healthier lives.
Our world is full of people who regularly scored As in school but who ended up working for those who were perceived as not intelligent and thus, not inclined to success.
DO YOU ALSO KNOW THAT BEING POOR IN MATHS OR ENGLISH (SCHOOL INTELLIGENCE) IS NOT A SIGN THAT A CHILD WILL FAIL IN LIFE?
Many children who were labeled as “average students” or “dullard” have gone ahead to become successful entrepreneurs and business owners. Bill Gates, Aliko Dangote (the wealthiest black man), Austin J.J Okocha (Nigerian football legend), Tiger Woods and & Richard Branson are all examples of people who never excelled academically but ended up highly successful in their respective fields of discipline.
It is, therefore, safe to say that it is a significant error, to assume that because a child excels at school; such a child has a huge chance of succeeding in life. Academic success has never been a good indicator of a person‟s success in life.
WHEN A PARENT CAN SPOT AND NURTURE HIS/HER CHILD DOMINANT INTELLIGENCES AT EARLY AGE, THE CHILD HAS A HIGHER CHANCE OF SUCCEEDING IN LIFE VERY QUICKLY
It takes a parent who has trained his/her eyes to spot talents and geniuses to identify them when they see talents in their children.
Richard Williams was able to spot sports genius in his youngest daughter when the girl was barely two years of age because he has trained his eyes to identify talents.
When she was just two years old, Richard Williams, the father of the long tennis living legend – Serena Williams noticed his youngest daughter’s energy and athletic ability. Serena demonstrated a level of energy that was beyond her age. She loved to watch long tennis on TV. Seeing all these, Richard figured out that a career in long tennis may be it for Serena and he decided to groom his daughter for a tennis career.
Guess What? Serena became a world-class Long tennis star at age of 13 because she has a father who is knowledgeable enough to spot talents in his child at an early age. This you will also be able to do after reading the book- The Whiz Kid: How To Unlock a Child’s Hidden Intelligences.
Think about it, what would have happened if Serena‟s father had confined her to the four walls of the classroom only? Maybe Serena would have gone to University and after that became a nurse, counselor or a school teacher. She may make all the money, but she will never be fulfilled. Our world would have missed a great legend like her, and the father too would have missed the opportunity of being the father of a star.
WHAT IF YOU NOTICE THAT YOUR CHILD LOVE FOOTBALL MORE THAN HIS OR HER STUDIES, WHAT WILL YOU DO?
If you notice that your child likes football more than his school subjects, what will you do? Shout at him to face his studies? Become worried that he may not turn out to become successful in life?
These were exactly the thoughts of Fabris Muamba’s mother too b
ut she was wrong. Fabrice Muamba was born in Kinshasa Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo). His mother noticed in her son, an unquenchable passion for football and became worried that her son was not concentrating on his studies. Like every African mother, Fabrice‟s mother wanted her son to grow up to become a doctor or lawyer and without doing well in his studies, she felt her son would not be successful in life. It was this worry that led her to the English mentor who had raised thousands of children to become academic giants, Professor Chris Imafidion when they (Muamba and the mum) just moved to London in 1999.
A CHILD CAN EXCEL IN HIS STUDIES AND ALSO IN OTHER AREAS AT THE SAME TIME.
Prof. Chris, however, did not strangle the boy’s passion for football to death but instead nurtured it and used the passion to teach him Maths and English (the school intelligences). Within a year, despite the fact that Fabrice arrived in London at eleven years old, unable to speak English, Fabrice became a Maths genius. He went on to pass his GCSE at twelve years of age (an exam usually written by 16 years old children). He made 10 GCSE and A-levels in English, French and Maths.
Muamba thereafter began his Football career in 2002 when he joined Arsenal’s Youth Academy. After three years, he turned professional in 2005. He moved from Arsenal to Birmingham and to Bolton in 2008.
All these were made possible through the help of a Professor who knows how to leverage on the talents of a child, who did not allow the mother to stop the boy from being who God had created him to be. After reading this book, you also will know how to nurture your Child’s talents and geniuses for accelerated success in life.
THE SEVEN TYPES OF INTELLIGENCE
Research carried out by Dr. Howard Gardner and documented in his book, Frame of Mind: the theory of multiple intelligences discovered that intelligence has Seven components. He termed them the Nine Multiple Intelligences.
Besides Verbal and Mathematical/logical (School) intelligences that most schools nurture in our children, there are seven other essential intelligences which include;
WHAT IT MEANS TO BE TRULY INTELLIGENT
To be truly intelligent means to score high in most of the seven multiple intelligences. Although it is extremely rare for a person to excel in all the seven areas of intelligence, but to lead a successful life, our children need to score high on at least four to five of the intelligences.
Academic results and IQ are poor predictors of true intelligence as they only measure a person’s verbal/linguistic and mathematical/logical abilities. So, you can have a high IQ and ace all your exams but may not have the necessary intelligences to succeed in life.
A BLEND OF FOUR TO FIVE INTELLIGENCES ARE REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS IN LIFE
An ‘A’ student may be very strong in his verbal skills (language and humanities) and Mathematical/logical intelligence, but may not have the required interpersonal skills to relate with people, communicate well or possess good persuasive or motivating skills to engage people. He may also not have the capacity to overcome and learn from failures as well as to reflect and motivate himself in the face of challenges. He may not be sufficiently creative, innovative and proactive enough to predict problems and create unique solutions. These, are the essential skills required to succeed in any profession.
Do you really want your child to succeed in life? Your child will require a blend of four to five intelligences to succeed in life. What all successful individuals have in common is that they have a healthy combination of at least four to five of the seven different intelligences.
Barrack Obama rose to become one of the most respected and loved presidents of the United States because he had strong interpersonal intelligence that allowed him understand people, connect with them and motivate them towards his course. His high intrapersonal intelligence saw him reflect and continuously improve on himself, ensuring that he dealt with frustration and bounced back after many setbacks. Obama possesses verbal/linguistic intelligence that allowed him give powerful, emotional and persuasive speeches. Finally, he has a relatively strong mathematical/logical intelligence that allowed him to analyze, interpret and solve problems. A person who is just purely trained to be academically smart will not exhibit all of these talents.
So, to ensure your child succeeds in the future, you cannot rely on good grades alone. You must ensure that your child develops as many of the seven intelligences as possible. This book will show you how to do just that.
NURTURING ONLY “SCHOOL INTELLIGENCE” CAN BE COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE
Some years ago, the news had it that a secondary school boy committed suicide in Lagos. He jumped from the top of the Maryland tunnel and broke his spinal cord because he came second in his third term examination.
This is a classic example of a boy who scored high in “school intelligence” but significantly fell short in other vital intelligences particularly in the area of intrapersonal intelligence, hence his inability to face, and ultimately overcome the temporary defeat.
THE EARLIER YOU IDENTIFY THEIR LATENT GENIUSES, THE BETTER FOR YOUR CHILD
Researches and the latest events around us as we see on YouTube and other online platforms have clearly shown that children learn a lot between birth and five years of age. Probably more than they will be able to learn in the remaining years of their lives: This is why it is imperative for parents and schools to be able to identify and nurture their talents at these very early ages.
In this book,
- I will show you how you can spot your child’s intelligences with 100% accuracy
- I will also give you step by step guide on how to nurture the intelligences to stardom
- You will find out the danger of “consume it now” or “I want it now” attitude in a child – inability to delay gratification
- I will help you discover your child’s blend of intelligences so that you can channel your efforts at nurturing the intelligences.
It is often an effort in futility to insist on nurturing intelligences or talents that are not your child’s dominant intelligences.
I will prove to you that, the fact that your child is not good at the “over-rated” Mathematical/logical and Verbal/linguistic (School) intelligence does not indicate that he will not succeed in life.
- I will show you how you can help your child build his or her Mathematical and Verbal (School) Intelligences
- I will also show you how you can nurture other critical intelligences in your child. There are seven forms of intelligence in every child and at different degrees.
- I will give you guidelines on how you can identify and measure your child’s level in all of the intelligences.
- My goal is to help you create a platform where your child will develop into an all-around, successful individual.
Each chapter of the book will cover each of the seven bits of intelligences in-depth. Each chapter will begin by explaining the definition of the intelligence and the importance of each one of them to your child’s success. It will go on to give examples of prominent, successful children and individuals who scored high on this faculty.
Finally, the chapters will provide practical advice on how to identify your child’s different intelligences according to their age group. It will also reveal specific step by step guides on how to increase your child’s ability in any area where they score low.
NO ONE WILL DO YOUR PRESS-UPS FOR YOU
It has, therefore, become the primary responsibility of parents to identify and nurture their children’s intelligences. It is a big error on the part of parents to think that it is the sole responsibility of teachers or the school to identify and nurture the greatness in their children. It is like a case of an obese person who is required to do press-ups but chooses to hire someone to do it on his behalf. No one can do your press-ups for you. You are the major stakeholder in your child’s success!
BEHIND EVERY SUCCESSFUL CHILD, THERE IS A PARENT
Behind every successful child that I have had the privilege to work with or study, there is a father, a mother or a teacher. No child succeeds without the help of a mother, a father, a teacher or a coach. Indeed, nothing moves without a mover.
For Samantha Imafidion who wrote, passed and set a world record at Cambridge Foundations of Advanced Mathematics Examination when she was barely Nine years old, it was her father that was knowledgeable enough to identify and blend his daughter’s dominant intelligences. Samantha was remarkably brilliant as a child, and eventually grew up to become even more successful in the real world because her father identified and blended his daughter’s multiple intelligences.
Did you hear about a Nigerian 11 years old Artist boy (Warris Olamilekan) who made the news recently. It was Warris’ mother who noticed her boy‟s passion for drawing when he was just six years of age. Determined to nurture this talent in her son, she got him brushes and paints. Even though Warris came from an impoverished home, his talent brought him to the limelight. When Warris was eleven years old (2018), he drew the sitting governor of Lagos state, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode. In appreciation, the governor awarded him a full University scholarship with a promise to help the parents come out of abject poverty. Warris was invited to draw the French President, Emmanuel Macron when he visited Nigeria (2018). Warris demonstrated his blends of intelligences when he was interviewed by the BBC as he intelligently answered the interviewer‟s questions with boldness and confidence.
